[A Frank And Ernest Discussion Of The Spiritual And Emotional Uplift That Is In GOD]
INTRODUCTION:
During this Teacher’s years spent within the school district, it was a privilege, as well as a very great pleasure, to interact, on a number of occasions, in an Administrative capacity, with middle and senior high school students, in forums in which it was made clear that they could speak honestly, and openly, without fear of judgment, denouncement, or reprisal: They could speak their minds. Never once can this Teacher recall that such exchanges, with them, ever proved to be mundane or boring: they were always a constant challenge to the thought processes, openness, integrity, and insight, of this Teacher.
While being engaged in one particular interaction, the discussion of love, concern for others, and drugs came into play; how the conversation actually evolved to that point, this Teacher cannot honestly say; after all, these topics proved to be quite a diverse combination of interests, wouldn’t you say?!? How was it that the interweaving of these particular considerations could have evolved? Perhaps it speaks to the way in which the minds of young persons work, especially today, as they can produce an eclectic amalgam of varied thoughts. Yet, there this Teacher was, before a meeting of approximately one hundred twenty students, at that time, engrossed in a very meaningful dialog with thirsty young minds. They clearly had questions and interests to which they sought answers, and they had evidently come to realize that they weren’t going to receive those answers from among persons of their own peer group. They began to search outside of their own ranks.
Somehow, the conversation wound its way around to a question being posed, directly, to this Teacher, as every eye within that room was fastened, intently, upon this Instructor. Every student in that room wanted to hear what this Teacher’s response would be to the inquiry posed, and it was evident that they wanted honesty: “Mr. Stephen, tell the truth: Have you ever gotten high?!?” The eyes of this Teacher surveyed the room and came to fasten upon the eyes of the interrogator who sat waiting to hear the response: the entire room had become the judge and jury for what would follow. “Never,” came the response. “Do you mean to tell us that you have NEVER done drugs and gotten high?!? Not even ONE time?!!?” The honest and sincere response came, again: “I have never once done drugs or gotten high a day in my life.”
What amounted to this Teacher’s Prosecution continued: “Then WHAT do you do for fun?!?” There was apparently no dismissal of the integrity of this Teacher’s denial statement, on any one of their parts; at least none was ever voiced in open forum, but they clearly wanted to know about an alternative to what they had come to embrace as essential to their lifestyles – “getting high”. Looking directly into their faces, without wavering, stammering, or delay, the response was presented to them, “I guess that you might say I get ‘high’ from being concerned about, and loving, others.”
One very large young man, from the school’s football team, standing about 6’2”, 275, whose name and appearance this Teacher can remember, quite well, and whom this Teacher has seen as a parent, himself, some years since that occasion, spoke out: “Mr. Stephen, what do you mean that you LOVE us.?!? Are you trying to get me to believe that you love me?!? How can you claim love for me, or any of these other students, when you don’t really know me, or them?!!?” Looking directly into his eyes,

the retort was made: “Mr. (name omitted), my love for each one of you within this setting, as well as for anyone else outside of it, is a personal choice that I make, and you have absolutely NOTHING to do with that choice. I CHOOSE to love and care about you, and, I guess you might say that I get ‘High’ from that.” He said no more, but walked away with a bewildered look in his eyes.
As stated, years later, while standing in the outer office area of one of the school’s buildings, a voice was heard to cry out, “Mr. Stephen!” Turning and looking up, this Teacher stood face to face with the more mature, but equally as imposing, figure of that same young man from years past, standing with a wry smile upon his face. “You don’t remember me, do you??” “Yes, I DO remember you, Mr. (name omitted). I told you that I would not forget you.” He replied, “I have a son, now, and I’m here to see about him.” The entirety of the conversation that ensued has not been included, but this Teacher has tried to include the overall gist of its content and meaning.
Somehow, although the words were left unspoken, this Teacher would like to believe that, because this former student remembered this Instructor, and chose to single this Instructor out, that he had carried our prior brief conversation within his heart/mind over the years, and with a young son of his own, he was, now, experiencing a type of “high” that NO DRUG, anywhere, can produce. He was, undoubtedly, getting “high” off the love of a father for his child.
Today’s Lesson will center around the thought of getting “high”, but it will be directed toward “GETTING ‘HIGH’ ON GOD”. Will you Walk with this Instructor through this Lesson, today, as we seek to gain a greater, and more meaningful, appreciation for what this Teacher MEANS by “GETTING ‘HIGH’ ON GOD”? May we be copious in our Prayers To THE ONE TRUE AND LIVING GOD OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, YAHVEH, and HIS Most Righteous Son, The Glorified Yeshua Ha Meshiach [Jesus The Messiah/Christ], Savior of the World, As THEY Lead and Guide us Into The TRUTH of YAHVEH GOD‘s Holy Word, That Is So ESSENTIAL to us living lives as Believers/Christians, each and every day of our lives. Amen
And now, today’s Lesson.
LESSON:
Hebrews 7:25 “Wherefore He [Yeshua/Jesus] Is Able Also To Save them To The Uttermost [Completely] that come Unto GOD, By Him, seeing HE Ever Liveth [Continues To Live] To Make Intercession For them.”
26 “For Such An High Priest Became [Was/Is Appropriate For] us, Who Is Holy, Harmless, Undefiled, Separate from Sinners, and Made Higher Than The Heavens;”
27 “Who Needeth Not daily, as those [Earthly] High Priests, To Offer Up Sacrifice, First For His Own Sins, and Then For the people’s: for this He Did ONCE, When He Offered Up Himself.”

HIS Righteous Son, The Glorified Yeshua Ha Meshiach [Jesus The Messiah/Christ], Who, Himself, Has Been Given A Position That Is HIGHER Than ALL of The THREE Heavens (Ephesians 4:8-10). This Position Was Given To Yeshua, By YAHVEH GOD, THE HEAVENLY FATHER, Following Yeshua‘s DEATH, BURIAL, and RESURRECTION From the dead, and His ASCENSION Above ALL Heavens. The QUESTION for this Teacher to answer, today, for Students of the Great Grace Bible Study Group is this: HOW can anyone be made “High” On Yeshua Ha Meshiach [Jesus The Meshiach/Christ], as THIS Teacher asserts that it is possible to do?!?
Have we not just established that Yeshua Has Been Given A Position That Is HIGHER Than ALL of The THREE Heavens?!? So, then, if this is TRUE, and it is, then we must consider what is written in I Corinthians 1:26-30 and II Corinthians 5:17-21. Since we are, now, said to be “IN Christ Jesus”, we must understand that we are partakers of His RIGHTEOUSNESS, as well. Let us read the following:
Romans 3:21 “But, now, The RIGHTEOUSNESS of GOD, without The LAW, Is Manifested, being witnessed by The LAW and The Prophets;”
22 “Even The RIGHTEOUSNESS of GOD Which Is By FAITH of Jesus Christ [Yeshua Ha Meshiach] Unto all and Upon all them that Believe: for there is no difference:”
26 “To declare, I say, at this time, HIS [YAHVEH’s] RIGHTEOUSNESS: That HE Might Be Just, and The Justifier of him which [whomever] Believeth in Jesus [Yeshua].”
What we are to comprehend, from these three verses, is that Whenever YAHVEH GOD Sees The RIGHTEOUSNESS of HIS Glorified Son, Yeshua Ha Meshiach [Jesus The Messiah/Christ], HIS Righteous One, HE Sees That SAME RIGHTEOUSNESS Within each one of us, also, Beloved, who has accepted The Lord Yeshua as his/her Lord, Savior, and Coming King. When YAHVEH GOD Looks At THIS Teacher, HE No Longer Sees the filthy, unrighteous, unforgiving, unholy, blemished, negative, unrepentant, sinful person that this Teacher once was, but Sees, Instead, A NEW CREATION embodying Love, Righteousness, Cleanliness, Holiness, Truth, Mercy, Forgiveness, Peace, and Joy: IN you and IN me, GOD Now Sees HIS Righteous Son. This, YAHVEH GOD Began To Do Long Before HE Had The LAW, or COMMANDMENTS, written down for Man-Types to read. Later, The LAW and The Prophets would stand in WITNESS of GOD‘s MERCY and GRACE Exhibited Toward Man-Types.
Ecclesiastes 5:8 “If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: For HE [YAHVEH] That Is HIGHER Than the highest Regardeth [Sees]; and there Be [There Is ONE Who Is] HIGHER Than they [the UNrighteous].”
Are you comprehending, Beloved, that this verse continues to flow in line with addressing the matter of one being “High” on GOD, and the understanding that is brought about by one grasping such a reality? The World is FULL of those persons who seem to have made it a part of their vocations in life to oppress those who are poor and down-trodden: it doesn’t matter what might be the particular country, or part of the World, that is under consideration; they exist there. The poor can’t even expect to receive an

equitable judgment in many of the Courts of the lands, for their financial circumstances far too often tend to determine, and dictate, the negative outcomes of the responses and judgments regarding their situations. Frequently, the Court Systems, at whatever level one might find them rendering their judgments, tend to distort and pervert those judgments that should be rendered in favor of the indigent, to the benefits of those with greater financial largess. We, who are Believers/Christians, are always to be aware of the fact that this World IS NOT a friend to the poor in doing Righteousness [Right-Living] regarding them! Do you SEE, Beloved, through your Spiritual Eyes of FAITH, that to be “High” on GOD, one must be LIKE GOD in TRANSCENDING beyond that which is Earthly [“…Higher Than the highest…”] in its judgments?!?
Notice, also, that we, as Believers/Christians/Saints of GOD, ARE NOT to get overly excited about this matter that the people of this World like to refer to as “Social Injustice” [“…marvel not at the matter…”]: GOD Is Going To Eventually FIX the matter in its ENTIRETY, In HIS Way and In HIS Time, BECAUSE HE Is ABLE To Do that which you, this Teacher, and others, who might be so inclined, disposed, and determined, to bring about “Social Change”, CANNOT do! When the Policeman gets “High” on GOD, he will no longer violate the rights of his neighbor, and attempt to cloak it by merely declaring that he “felt threatened”, simply because society has allowed him to wear a uniform, a badge, and to legally carry a weapon. When the man on the street gets “High” on GOD, he will no longer be in the streets disrupting and posing a threat to anyone else, or the rights and property of others! When the businessman gets “High” on GOD, he will no longer treat others unfairly, by refusing to sell to them when they qualify for such a sale, to charge them more than is justified, or to threat them differently for reasons that are NOT Biblically Acceptable. When one gets “High” on GOD, ALL of our “Social Problems” will NO LONGER BE the problems that they tend to pose, today!
Mark 12:30 “And thou shalt love THE LORD thy GOD with ALL thy heart [emotional consciousness], and with ALL thy Soul [physical existence], and with ALL thy mind [mental acuity processes], and with ALL thy strength [physical capability]: This is The FIRST COMMANDMENT.”
31 “And the SECOND is like [it], namely this, ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.’ There is none [no] other COMMANDMENT greater than these!”
Precious Hearts, these two verses provide to us The FOUNDATION of that which it takes to genuinely LOVE. One must FIRST Love GOD, and, then, one must allow that Love to flow to the concerns, interests, and needs of others. This is the Love about which Walter Hawkins once sang when he said, “It Makes me Love all my enemies, and my friends; It Makes we do Right when I would do Wrong…” When one is “High” on GOD, that person will no longer continue to do things simply because it is “convenient” to do them, but will do them because it is what GOD Requires of him/her. Where TRUE Love exists, there is NO greater Commandment to consider, for LOVE is The HIGHWAY of HOLINESS that carries us to ALL other RIGHTEOUSNESS [Right-Living] (I Corinthians 13:13).
I Thessalonians 5:12 “And we beseech [implore] you, Brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you In THE LORD, and admonish [give correction to] you;”

One of the essential areas of one “GETTING ‘HIGH‘ ON GOD” presents the necessity of one having great respect for that man who stands in the Pulpit Ministry as YAHVEH GOD‘s Representative and Spokesman, as such a man gives to one The Spiritual Sustenance from The Word of GOD [The Holy Bible], to carry one through the struggles, trials, tests, and conflicts, of each week of one’s life.
I Thessalonians 5:13 “And to esteem them very highly in Love for their Work’s sake. And be at Peace among yourselves.”
Let this Teacher say it, again, that what we have, here, is another verse that presents a way in which persons are “GETTING ‘HIGH‘ ON GOD”, through displaying a greater esteem for the type of Love that one is to have toward others: in this case, the Love displayed is for the particular Spiritual Leader who presents The TRUTH of GOD to individuals, on a weekly basis (Hebrews 13:7, 17).
I Peter 1:13 “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for The Grace that is To Be Brought Unto you At The Revelation of Jesus Christ.”
What have we here?!? We have the MEANS through which any individual can get “High” in the Spiritual Area of that person’s life: by the gaining of a NEW MINDSET! In this instance, it is referred to as “gird[ing] up the loins of [the] mind”, and “be[ing] sober”. In short, however, it simply means to CHANGE one’s way of THINKING, so that one will begin to think appropriately!!! (Philippians 2:5-9) What do these verses in The Book of Philippians share with us? They are telling us that YAHVEH GOD Greatly Values HUMILITY of the mind/heart! YAHVEH GOD Exalted HIS Righteous Son BECAUSE OF Yeshua‘s HUMILITY (Verse 9). Will HE Not, Therefore, Exalt you for the same reason, as well? (James 4:10) Indeed, HE Will! (Matthew 23:12; I Peter 5:6)
14 “As obedient Children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:”
Listen to what is being shared with you in the words of this verse, Precious Saints of GOD. IF you are obedient to The Word of GOD, you will BE a Child of GOD: OBEDIENCE is the Key to RIGHTEOUSNESS [Right-Living]. Furthermore, you will refrain from acting according to the ways in which you formerly lived, that, in the words of this verse, is phrased as “fashioning [yourself] according to the former lusts…”, when you Walked according to the Sinful Lusts of your Flesh, when you were ignorant of a Knowledge of The TRUTH of GOD‘s Word, Will, and Way.
15 “But As HE WHICH [WHO] Has Called you Is HOLY, so be ye Holy in all manner of conversation [lifestyle];”
Now, we are faced with a mandate from The MOUTH of THE LIVING GOD, WHOSE Words Are Given To us Through the words penned from the lips of the Apostle, named Peter. BECAUSE our GOD IS HOLY, HE Does NOT Allow us, As HIS Children, to be anything other than Holy, ourselves, in EVERY aspect of our lives. This is WHY we CANNOT continue to be involved with persons whose lives reflect that which is completely divergent to the Life and Lifestyle That our HEAVENLY FATHER Is Calling us to exemplify (II Corinthians 6:15-18).

I Peter 1:16 “Because it is written, ‘Be ye Holy; For I AM HOLY!’”
This verse indicates WHY it is that NO ONE of us can EVER make amendments to What Is Written Within The Word of GOD [The Holy Bible]: It is WRITTEN, which MEANS That This Word Is FOREVER SETTLED Within THE HEAVEN of Heavens, thereby making It Forever Settled Within the Earth, as well, negating the ability of ANY of Man-Types to make changes or adjustments to That Which our GOD Has Given us To receive Through Its Word (Psalm 119:89).
Hebrews 13:20 “Now THE GOD OF PEACE, That [WHO] Brought, Again, From the dead, our Lord Jesus, That Great Shepherd of the Sheep, Through The Blood of The Everlasting Covenant,”
21 “Make you perfect [complete] in EVERY Good Work to do HIS Will, Working In you That Which Is Well-Pleasing In HIS Sight, Through Jesus Christ; To Whom Be Glory Forever and Ever. Amen.”
These two verses, from Hebrews 13, make us cognizant of the fact that It Is YAHVEH GOD WHO Is The SAME GOD WHO Brought our Lord and Savior Back To ETERNAL LIFE, following his Crucifixion upon the Cross/Stake at Calvary, and Yeshua‘s subsequent Burial and RESURRECTION From the dead, WHO Will Complete The Love Within our hearts/minds that is so vitally necessary for us to truly BE The Children of GOD. YAHVEH GOD Is To Be GLORIFIED FOREVER, Because of HIS GOODNESS and MERCY Exhibited Toward us, Which ENABLE us to become More PERFECTED in achieving The Things of GOD.
James 3:18 “And The Fruit of Righteousness is sown in Peace of them that make Peace.”
Listen, closely, to the words of James, Beloved. James is telling us that where PEACE is present, within one’s heart/mind/life, it is comparable to having dark, rich, Potting Soil at one’s disposal, into which one might plant The FRUIT of RIGHTEOUSNESS; that, in this instance, is the presence or FRUIT of PEACE. PEACE will GROW from the presence of The Spiritual Soil of preexisting PEACE: PEACE produces and draws its Strength From The Spiritually Fertile Ground into which its roots descend. When one GIVES PEACE as one would plant a Seed into the ground, one will RECEIVE greater amounts of the growth of PEACE in abundance.
Beloved, ask any person, anywhere, whose life is devoid of the presence of PEACE, and let him/her tell you just how valuable a Spiritual Commodity is PEACE. Ask him/her how “High” he/she feels, each day, when there is a TRANQUILITY that is present, within one’s Spirit and life, at home, on the job, and throughout the social structure, to override all of the persistent, crescendo of the noise of conflict, dissension, anger, frustration, vitriol, hatred, fear, and contention, that is so prevalent within the entire World, today. It reminds this Teacher of what is stated in the words of Proverbs 25:24, Psalm 34:14, and John 14:27. Truly KNOWING The PEACE of GOD Enables one to get “High” on The PRESENCE of GOD Within one’s heart/mind/thoughts/life. Let us, now, consider, a bit more in-depth, some verses that were mentioned a bit earlier in this Lesson, as they will give to us greater Insight and Clarity into our consideration, today, of “GETTING ‘HIGH’ ON GOD”.

II Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if any man [person] be IN Christ, he [that person] is a New Creature: old things are passed away; behold ALL THINGS are Become NEW.”
WHAT were your major concerns when you lived, completely, a life that was intent upon satiating only the desires of your Flesh [Human Nature], whatever those particular desires, lusts, or longings, might have been, in which you recognized that the presence of SIN was your constant companion, and your life was practically devoid of any thought of GOD? Whether, at the time, you gave such any real consideration and credence, it would, nonetheless, likely have popped up as a concern, from time to time. As time passed, however, it might have become increasingly less of a consideration, because of what is written in I Timothy 4:2. You began to cope with, or to accept, the prevailing presence of the SIN in which your Flesh would choose to engage. It became exponentially more palatable for you to live an UNrighteous life and lifestyle. The presence of SIN was GROWING within your heart/mind/life, ever so glacially, and gradually taking you upon a downward spiral. This is/was the way of EVERYONE! The person LIES to himself/herself who would attempt to DENY that he/she has ever been a SINNER! (Romans 3:23)
II Corinthians 5:18 “And all things Are Of GOD [Everything that exists Was Created By GOD], WHO Hath Reconciled us To HIMSELF By Jesus Christ [Yeshua Ha Meshiach], and Hath Given To us the Ministry of Reconciliation;”
19 “To wit, That GOD Was IN Christ, Reconciling the World Unto HIMSELF, Not Imputing their trespasses Unto them; and Hath Committed Unto us the Word of Reconciliation.”
The PURPOSE of the Pulpit Ministry of The TRUE Church of GOD is to bring persons to a SAVING Knowledge of Yeshua Ha Meshiach [Jesus The Messiah/Christ]. Students of the Great Grace Bible Study Group, this Teacher is convinced that IF persons actually possessed the ability, within themselves, alone, to truly UNDERSTAND the MEANING and IMPORT behind the words of these two verses, they would RUN to The Savior of the World for The SALVATION That ONLY He, Through The POWER of GOD, Can Provide To them; but, alas, they possess NO such capability (I Corinthians 2:14). We are given to know, through The Holy Scriptures, that in and of ourselves, alone, we haven’t the desire, or capacity, to will ourselves to come to GOD (John 6:44; 14:6). Whenever ANYONE gives genuine consideration to coming to GOD, it is BECAUSE THE HOLY SPIRIT of YAH [THE HEAVENLY FATHER and Son] Is “Calling” that particular individual To SALVATION. Now, what he/she might choose to do with That “Calling” is that individual’s place to decide.
Psalm 37:4 “Delight thyself also in THE LORD; and HE Shall Give thee the desires of thine heart.”
Have you ever had the feeling that you have needed an Emotional and/or Spiritual ANCHOR to strengthen and stabilize your life? Have you ever felt that your life was “Out of Control”, existing upon a stormy Sea of Turmoil and Distress, where you found that you were feeling insecure, unsafe, unsteady, and unstable, meandering through various concerns, not knowing what you should do next? Did your life seem to require something that was completely outside of your own ability to provide? The fact is that your Spiritual-Man, that innermost element of yourself, that so MANY persons seem to

ignore, and deny exists, was crying out for Contact With THE LIVING GOD (Psalm 84:2). Whether you recognized it, or not, you were feeling the NEED For HIM To Lead and Guide you Through your Emotional/Spiritual Storms (Psalm 42:2; 23:1-3). You were at that place in which you needed to FEEL the type of Spiritual “High” That ONLY The PRESENCE Of THE TRUE AND LIVING GOD Can Provide To the life of ANY man/woman/boy/girl. You NEEDED your HEAVENLY FATHER, just as any child requires the strength, safety, and provision of his/her human parent.
Psalm 37:5 “Commit thy way [of living] unto THE LORD; trust also in HIM; and HE Shall Bring it To Pass.”
The BOTTOM LINE is this, Beloved of GOD: GOD Really DOES CARE About you and EVERY aspect of your life. HE Is AWARE of EVERYTHING that transpires regarding you. This IS NOT some fantasy, fiction, or fallacy, on the part of this Instructor: GOD REALLY DOES CARE! HE Is Waiting For you to SURRENDER your heart/mind/life to HIM, So That HE Might Lift you Up On High (I Peter 5:6).
Proverbs 16:3 “Commit thy works unto THE LORD, and thy thoughts Shall Be Established.”
Our Lesson begins to close, today, with the words from a verse in Proverbs 16:3. This verse continues to address the SURRENDER of the entirety of one’s heart/mind/life to The Instructions and Leading of THE TRUE AND LIVING GOD, YAHVEH. One’s “Works”, as mentioned in THIS verse, entail one’s SUBMISSION. It is what is covered in the words of Luke 14:11. Humility and Surrender are REQUIREMENTS for the one who is desirous of “GETTING ‘HIGH’ ON GOD”. Begin, TODAY, to CHANGE your mindset, abase your own selfish desires and attitudes, and allow YAHVEH GOD, and HIS Most Righteous Son, To LIFT you UP on HIGH. Allow YAHVEH GOD To Bring you To that place in which you begin to realize the following:
YOU ARE NOT WHAT YOU THINK YOU ARE; BUT WHAT YOU THINK, YOU ARE.
– Proverbs 23:7
CONCLUSION:
Everyone enjoys feeling the effervescence and ebullience that so much in life seems to produce for our enjoyment. We enjoy the crescendo of the feelings of being “High” on the attainments of various accomplishments achieved, at different time periods, and career levels, of our lives, whether in business, education, athletics, politics, or some other notable area. It is the REASON behind the great success of the Olympic competitions, and various World sporting events. We seem to thrive on the euphoria of such!
It is NOT wrong, in itself, to feel such ecstasy, for it most certainly has its place. However, so MANY persons have allowed Satan the Devil, the Arch-Deceiver of the World, to delude them into thinking that they can self-induce such a state of existence through various drug usage. drug-induced stupors, almost oblivious to what is taking place around them, or, at the very least, no longer really exhibiting the capacity to care about such. Many have allowed their lives to descend into the abyss of a vacuous, inane, existence, meandering through life without real meaning, purpose, or objectivity. They are Spiritually LOST and caught within a maelstrom, living without purpose, as they swirl ever deeper into the waters of depression and destruction!
On the converse side of this issue stands the WISE man/woman, who has come to the realization that the truly MEANINGFUL HIGH of one’s life comes in Knowing and Honoring The Word of THE LIVING GOD, Which Will Cause him/her to SOAR on High (Isaiah 40:31). This person KNOWS that everything else in this World is passing away, but that The Word of THE TRUE AND LIVING GOD Will Endure FOREVER! (Isaiah 40:8) The decision rests within the purview of each one of us, as to whether, how often, and how much, one will choose to be “HIGH” On GOD.
